Where is the property?

Guidance covers all 254 counties. Property records are available through the official districts; searchable records held here are listed separately below.

Use your appraisal district to look up the property, check its account number and find current protest instructions.

District links were checked against official sources in November 2026. Confirm the current filing method and year with the district. Opening a lookup does not file a protest.

Three steps to prepare

1. Check the record

Compare your notice with the district’s account, address, property details, values and exemptions. Keep copies and note any factual errors.

2. Preserve your deadline

Use the mailing date on your notice. Submit a timely protest using the district’s instructions and save proof of submission.

3. Prepare your evidence

Gather photos, repair estimates, measurements and supporting records. Ask about an informal conference. If unresolved, review your ARB hearing instructions.

An informal discussion does not itself file a protest. We do not submit forms, represent you or promise a reduction.

Plan your filing date

The usual annual deadline is May 15 or 30 days after the appraisal district mails your notice, whichever is later. Weekends and legal holidays can move the date. Special notices and late protests need district review.

Use the date mailed, not the date you received it. Leave blank if no notice has been issued.

Calendar downloads include reminders seven days and one day before the planning date. Import into your calendar app and check its notification settings. No email signup required.

Review a notice

Enter the appraised value from each year’s notice to see the arithmetic change. This does not determine whether either value is correct.

A change in appraised value is not a tax estimate or evidence of an error. Check market value, exemptions, caps and each taxing unit’s taxable value separately.

Prepare an unsigned Form 50-132 draft

Free. We copy the details you enter into the official form. Choose your county and tax year above first. You must complete the protest reasons and remaining choices, check the instructions, sign and file it yourself.

Draft details are used to generate your download and are not saved as an order or subscription. No card required. The official form includes instructions and fields you must finish.

Exemptions and tax relief

Check the official requirements for residence homestead, age 65 or older, disability and veteran relief. Apply with your appraisal district and confirm the tax year. Eligibility and benefits depend on your circumstances.

Sources and scope

County contacts come from the Texas Comptroller directory and district websites. Standard deadline planning uses Texas Tax Code §§41.44 and 1.06. This is an independent preparation tool, not a county website, appraisal or representation service.
